   Well, there aren't many of us running XP just yet out there!  I did
receive the one following reply to my question, however, from David Hoehne.
Thanks Dave.  Your experience is enlightening and promising.  Hope this
helps some of you out.  Now at least I'm not so weary of purchasing a new
machine with an XP preload (save for having to update the anti-virus
software).

I've been running AV 3.2a for about two weeks on a pre-loaded Gateway with
no problems. In fact, none of my apps except our accounting software have
failed to run including some notably finicky titles like form Z and
Terramodel. We knocked the interface back to a Win2K classic from the Luna
stuff. I don't know if that makes any difference at all, but it sure makes
it easier to find things ;-)
